The Brief: To design a 2 storey family home with kids area downstairs, living, dining, kitchen and bedrooms upstairs and a four car garage. The design should take advantage of the Torrens River Linear Park views to the North and rear of the block.
Design Response: The aesthetic approach was to create a unique and attractive home while ‘bridging the gap’ between the two visually different dwellings on either side of the property and achieving a harmonious streetscape.
This 2 storey home on a 500m2 block features spacious open plan living, 4 bedrooms, a study, generous storage and amenity areas and ample private open space.
The house is constructed using lightweight building techniques and is heavily insulated to provide an Energy Star rating in excess of 7.5 stars.
Northern windows and the deck on the first floor are designed with shading during summer and excellent solar access during the winter months.
The roof and services have been specially designed to provide 100% rainwater collection with 20,000L of storage on site, allowing water to be recirculated into the house.
Construction of this project will begin late 2015 for completion early 2016.
